An Interesting Book I Have Read

The life is full of sensitive, achievement , memorable. I have read many books. but I like a one book. That is  Mr. Martin Wickremasinghe's  Madoldoova. I was only sixteen years old when I read Martin Wickremasinghe's Madoldoova for the first time. It is  very interesting adventure story. This book is so popular that it has been translated into several foreign languages too.

"Madoldoova " has become the most popular novel among the school children. It is full of joyful escapades of rural youth. Here is the story in brief.

The main characters of this story are Upali and Jinna. We meet Upali for the first time as a motherless child of seven years. His mother dies and after one year of the death, his father gets married again. The step mother is not a cruel woman. but she does not know how to look after a  motherless child.   

In other words she can't understand the children's world. Upali does not get the parental love and affection. He feels himself as an outsider. He is not interesting in schooling. His  father too does not understand the children's world. Jinna is his best friend .It is said that Jinna is a distant relative of Upali's family. Both Upali and Jinna led a number of the other boys like Siripala and Dangadasa. Robbers,Veddah game and Cadju raid are some of them.

Upali is an energetic, courageous and hardworking boy who loves adventure and the real adventure comes by when he journeys in to the sea with the fisherman. After the Cadju raid Upali and Jinna leave home and find work in a chena. After some time they go to Madoldoova and start cultivation there. As last they become successful farmers. Modoldoova is a didactic story. I have gone to see Madoldoova. It is very attractive place in  Sri Lanka.
